CoCreating

I sit here, looking out through huge windows over the mountain valley, soaking in the profound beauty of the fall colors, and listening to a woman playing Debussy on the piano. While sitting here, I am reminded that life is just too short to not live without gusto, exuberance, emotion, and passion. To feel and experience is to be human. Our created-ness is to experience this life in this moment in its fullest form. We were created to live out and experience life, with passion and expression, for our source of life is Passionate. He is desperate for our love and affection and He longs to grant the same love and affection to us. One look to the Cross and the Empty Tomb should cease all argument to the contrary.

As I sit and ponder what exactly it means to be created in the Image of God, or bearing the imago Dei, I am becoming more and more convinced that a great part of playing out our image is the ability to co-Create. We are blessed to share in the creation of forming something from nothing, or creating something new from pieces of old. A new melody, a new shade of color, a new perspective on life, or a new way to express affection; all these are in themselves creations—an innate ability granted to, given to, maybe even charged to, humanity. Like all things in creation, we have (wrongly of course) taken the blessing to create, and used it for evil purposes, as well as for good, but the bottom line remains that we still were created Imago Dei, and part of that image is that we, ourselves, should create. I pray that we should all, for a moment or more, pause and ponder how we, I, will fulfill this portion of my Image and Create…to bring something new from what was once not before, or to give new shape and identity to what was dead, and thereby give life again.

This blog is an expression of co-creation and a pursuit of the Ideal, the Good, the Beautiful, the Lovely. It is, in short, one reflective attempt to pursue the Creater.
